Why I’m Running
FOR FAR TOO LONG,
the Maricopa County Assessor’s office has been neglected. Recent news about the former County Assessor Paul Petersen’s adoption fraud scheme running on the taxpayers’ dime has shown us just how bad it is.
🚫 Adoption fraud.
🚫 Human trafficking.
🚫 Stealing money from taxpayers.
This does not look good for Maricopa County.
Aaron Connor’s Priorities as County Assessor
For years, the former Assessor had weaponized the office. People in certain cities lost their homes due to unfair and biased assessments. When elected, I will end these punitive practices and rebuild trust with taxpayers. Maricopa County residents deserve an Assessor they can trust.
I believe in showing my work. I want taxpayers to have an understanding of the assessment process and how their contributions via property taxes are the building blocks of our community. I will hold easily accessible town hall meetings throughout the county during my tenure as County Assessor.
Fairness and Accuracy
I will work to ensure Maricopa County taxpayers have a fair and accurate property assessment. The valuation provided on a given property impacts all of our community. Remember, 75 percent of all property taxes go directly toward education spending.
So, What Does a County Assessor Actually Do?
A County Assessor’s role is critical to determining property taxes. The assessor’s office locates and identifies (assesses) all taxable property in the county and further identifies the ownership. They also establish a value for all property subject to property taxation. The office is responsible for listing the values of all property on the assessment roll. The Assessor does not compute or collect property taxes.
Dedication to Excellence
It’s no exaggeration to say Aaron Connor has mastered the mortgage industry. For over 15 years, Aaron has worked as an underwriter, loan processor, title reviewer, loan officer, business analyst, and a systems administrator. Aaron’s unique skill set gives him an understanding of the entire lifecycle of the mortgage industry to find efficiencies and ensure the consumers investments are maximized.
Aaron has loved technology since his teens, when he aced his first game of space invaders. He is driven to leverage technology to ensure it works for all aspects of the organization, especially consumers. As the Assessor for Maricopa County these standards of excellence would not change. He would be driven to ensure the technology that property owners rely on is supported, maintained, and functioning in a way that makes sense for the end users.
Aaron was raised to do the right thing, just because it is the right thing to do. His inner drive and sense of service were handed down from his family. His mother was a nurse, his father was a police officer and they have raised their son with a strong commitment to community and family. He lives in Phoenix with his wife Sondra.
